Lee Kun-soo, honorary chairman of the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation (Chairman of Dong-A Eleccom), donated $50,000 to the construction of the Korean War Veterans Monument, which is being built at Hillcrest Park in Fullerton.

Honorary Chairman Lee Kun-soo handed over the construction funds to Chairman Noh Myeong-soo at a meeting with members of the Korean War Memorial Construction Committee held at the Consulate General in Los Angeles (Consul General Kyung-jae Park) on the 31st of last month.

“Chairman Lee Kun-soo said, “There is no monument anywhere in the world that engraves the names of all 36,591 US soldiers who died during the Korean War,” he said. “Thank you,” he said, adding that he will cooperate as much as possible to ensure that key figures related to the ROK-US alliance can attend the monument’s completion ceremony.

At a meeting held along with the fund delivery ceremony on this day, Consul General Park Kyung-jae said, “I am grateful for the hard work of the construction committee members who worked hard to find a site and funds for the Korean War Memorial.” He added, “We will proceed with the construction of the monument without a hitch in the future and hold a completion ceremony on November 11.” “We will do everything possible to make it happen.”

In response, Chairman Noh Myung-soo said, “I am grateful to the Consulate General for its efforts in securing support funds from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea as well as promoting the monument construction project by awarding appreciation plaques to the donors of this project.”

Meanwhile, this war memorial is a five-pointed star-shaped monument with 10 sides and each side contains the names of 750 war dead. In this sculpture, the names of the 36,591 US soldiers who died in the Korean War are listed by state and listed in alphabetical order.

The Korean War Memorial is located on the side of Brea Road at the entrance to Fullerton Hillcrest Park (1360 N Brea Blvd.).

Also, a large sign saying ‘Korean War Memorial’ will be erected on Brea Road. This is to inform passing drivers and visitors that this is where the Korean War Memorial is located.

The construction of the Korean War Veterans Monument, which was originally scheduled to be completed on September 28, the anniversary of the restoration of Seoul, has been delayed due to disruptions in the supply of construction materials. This monument is scheduled to be completed around November 11th. For inquiries, please contact Chairman Noh Myung-soo (714) 514-6363, Secretary General Park Dong-woo (714) 858-0474
